One guy, 1,200 miles, zero job offers — the most chaotic post-grad plan ever.
After graduating college with a dream of becoming an outdoor filmmaker but no job prospects Alex Maier set out to hike 1,200 miles from the Continental Divide to the Pacific Ocean on the Pacific Northwest Trail. He chose one of the toughest and most remote long-distance hikes in America to put his skills and perseverance to the test, what he found were life-lessons that went way deeper than affirming a career choice.
Cinematography

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Maier shot this entirely solo with no crew, sometimes burying his camera equipment to protect it from bears. The Pacific Northwest Trail is so remote that fewer than 100 people attempt it annually.
This quietly kicked off a wave of 'millennial goes outside to fix their life' documentaries, though most lacked Maier's genuine desperation and zero-budget authenticity.
