Filipino soldiers vs. their own undead comrades—abandonment hurts worse than bites.
When the government sends soldiers to Mindanao, the soldiers never came back, so another group of soldiers have been sent there to retrieve the lost group of soldiers. While searching for them, some infected soldiers that were missing, got angry to the rescuers for abandoning them for years. So, the humans are in hot pursuit from the monsters

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Chito S. Roño deliberately chose aswang mythology over Western zombies to root the horror in specifically Filipino fears of bodily corruption and social ostracization.
The 47-minute runtime was a deliberate choice—Roño wanted the compression of a nightmare where there's no time to process before the next horror hits.
