Six minutes of pure Carroll chaos — oysters, deception, and a walrus with zero remorse.
It is an animated adaptation of Lewis Carroll's whimsical poem in which the walrus and the carpenter entice a family of oysters to join them on their journey along the beach.
Writing
Carroll's original verse — impeccably dark and rhythmic.
Director
Malcolm Spaull
Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
This segment originally appeared in Disney's Alice in Wonderland (1951) but this 1978 standalone version strips away Alice entirely, letting the poem's moral darkness breathe on its own.
Director Malcolm Spaull made this with his son Guy narrating — a family project about a family being devoured. The irony was apparently lost on no one.
