Whilst at their winter residence in the Carpathian Mountains, for the feast of Saint Andrew of November 1940, Ionel Hațieganu and Sasha, his convalescent wife, end up being caught, without any apparent reason, inside a rampant story of secrecy and betrayal that echoes the distant drums of war.
