Standout Aspects

Direction

Pawlikowski's debut already has that chilly, precise lyricism.

Cinematography

Moscow looks beautifully, hopelessly gray.

Acting

Bodrov Jr. carries desperate optimism like a wound.

Best for:Solo: When you want to feel quietly devastated in peace.·Streaming: Late night, low lights, zero distractions.·Rewatch: Second viewing hits different once you know how it ends.
Heads up:Emotional: Ending will sit in your chest for days.·Disturbing: Casual violence and systemic hopelessness throughout.
