Gordon Liu plays a stuntman named Daiyu, who is his town's sole vampire non-believer holdout. When his young daughter “adopts” a vampire kid, his viewpoint changes. Daiyu, with help from a female Japanese student, must defend his village against hopping vampires and an evil sorcerer who want their land.

Those stiff-armed hopping vampires are peak practical effects, zero CGI.

Gordon Liu directed this WHILE starring in multiple Shaw Brothers productions, apparently sleep was optional in 1988 Hong Kong.
The 'hopping vampire' or jiangshi comes from Qing dynasty burial practices and became a full Hong Kong subgenre thanks to 1985's Mr. Vampire—this rode that wave hard.
