After returning to the Dominican Republic, Vera finds out that her stepbrother, Andres, has dropped out of his MBA and that her stepfather has not been seen around the house for a few days. She also meets Santiago, a charming photographer, who quickly invites her to the south of the country: a region she longs to see. Andres stumbles upon a devastating reality about his father that forces him to flee along with Vera and Santiago to the south to avoid facing the truth.

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
This was one of the first Dominican films to frame the country's south as a character itself—contrasting Santo Domingo's elite circles with rural poverty and coastal beauty.
Director Héctor Valdez deliberately kept Paco's crimes vague on screen, forcing audiences to fill in the horror—making Andres's disgust more relatable than explicit revelation would allow.
