This tour marked Sting's full pivot to 'world music' respectability, with Cheb Mami's 'Desert Rose' becoming his biggest solo hit. The 1999 album sold 3.5 million copies—his commercial peak as a solo artist.
The Universal Amphitheatre was demolished in 2012 to expand Universal Studios; this film is essentially a time capsule of a venue that no longer exists. Sting reportedly performed two nights here for this recording.
