Police officer Antoine Delille is in charge of putting an end to the activities of a "kingpin", Jo Pinelli, trafficker, racketeer and pimp. He has three women working for him, including Eva and Jeannette, and is currently "conditioning" a charming, naive Orly employee, with whom he poses as an honorable businessman. Inspector Delille's plan is to arrest Jo for some crime and, while he's being held at the P.J., to delve into his other criminal activities and confound him.
Acting
Pierre Mondy's Delille — sweaty, desperate, impossible to root for.
Production
Authentic Paris locations that reek of cheap bars and bad decisions.
Director
Maurice Cloche
Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Maurice Cloche directed over 80 films but remains virtually unknown outside France; this was his attempt at policiers after years of religious epics and comedies.
Released the same year as 'Bande à part' but feels decades older — this is the grimy commercial cinema Godard and Truffaut were trying to kill.
