Steel Pulse formed in 1975 at Handsworth Wood Boys School, Birmingham — the same industrial crucible that produced Black Sabbath, proving the Midlands breeds revolution in every genre.
Their 1978 debut 'Handsworth Revolution' was the first non-Jamaican reggae album to gain serious international traction, effectively proving UK reggae could stand on its own island.
