Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Jill Schoelen was the go-to '90s scream queen, also starring in The Stepfather and Phantom of the Opera (1989).
The fake films ('Mosquito!', 'The Amazing Electrified Man') are loving parodies of actual 1950s B-movies, complete with period-accurate gimmicks like 'Shock-O-Scope' electric buzzers in theater seats.

Reactions from the web
Loved this movie. I was a projectionist in an old movie theater and we played a large number b action and horror films. This was easily the most underrated horror/comedy of that era. (outside of tremors, which went on to cult status after hitting video) I loved that it paid homage to the b horror films of the late 50s, 60's and early 70's. Fun movie.
