Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
K-9 was created specifically because the production team wanted a robot who wouldn't need oxygen or require expensive location shooting.
This serial aired during the 1977 UK winter of discontent, making its 'infection from space' plot weirdly resonant with contemporary anxieties about contamination and collapse.
