Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
This was Danish-French co-production boom trash—European directors using North Africa as exotic backdrop for white male fantasies.
Mélanie Doutey was 21 playing 16; the film treats this as scandalous while the actual age gap with Binard (29) goes unremarked.
