Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Fong Sai-yuk is a Cantonese folk hero whose real-life exploits (and many fictional ones) made him China's Robin Hood with better kicks. This serial helped cement his pop-culture dominance.
Both parts were presumed destroyed during wartime or simply decomposed—standard fate for pre-1950s Chinese cinema. The sequel's title, 'Fong Sai-Yuk's Final Battle,' now reads like dark irony.
