Deep Dive

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes

Cultural

East Germany's DEFA studio occasionally co-produced with Spanish actors like Fernando Sancho to reach Western markets—this explains the bizarre international casting.

Trivia

The German title's 'Stockfisch' (dried cod) and 'Stinktier' (skunk) are elaborate sailor insults that barely relate to the actual plot.
