East German heist chaos where the thieves are somehow the least incompetent people on screen.
Two old sea dogs are fighting to the teeth for customers for a coastal cruise. Three crooks turn up at the resort and try to get a briefcase full of valuable jewelry out of the three-mile zone. A rich "Frenchwoman" is also involved in the affair. An insurance agent mingles with the tourists without being recognized in order to track down the jewel thieves.

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
East Germany's DEFA studio occasionally co-produced with Spanish actors like Fernando Sancho to reach Western markets—this explains the bizarre international casting.
The German title's 'Stockfisch' (dried cod) and 'Stinktier' (skunk) are elaborate sailor insults that barely relate to the actual plot.
