Bridget Jones knew she had flaws, but strived to be the perfect woman to meet the man of her dreams. The problems getting in her way, is her weight issues, her alcohol addiction and her inability to speak for herself. For that reason, I think she uses her diary to help her overcome her flaws and her fears that men will never be able to understand her.
