A man ahead of his time, Cyrano de Bergerac dazzles whether with ferocious wordplay at a verbal joust or with brilliant swordplay in a duel. But, convinced that his appearance renders him unworthy of the love of a devoted friend, the luminous Roxanne, Cyrano has yet to declare his feelings for her—and Roxanne has fallen in love, at first sight, with Christian.
Acting
Dinklage's tiny king energy—commanding, heartbreaking, singing.
Score
Aaron and Bryce Dessner's indie-folk songs slap weirdly hard.
Cinematography
Wright's signature long takes and candlelit intimacy.

Director
Joe Wright
Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Peter Dinklage had never sung professionally before; the Dessner brothers wrote the songs specifically for his vocal range. The role was originally developed for him in an Off-Broadway production before Wright adapted it.
This adaptation finally removes the prosthetic nose traditionally used for Cyrano, instead using Dinklage's dwarfism as the 'flaw'—a radical reinterpretation that asks why society deems certain bodies unlovable.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Perhaps what we want isn't always what we need Cyrano, is a delightful reminder that there is love

I just really wished they had released the 'Someone to Say (Reprise)' song from the trailer. I can't wait to listen to it in its entirety! But the one they released is also really great. I just really can't wait for the whole soundtrack to release.
