Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
D.H. Lawrence's 1928 novel was banned for obscenity until 1960; this adaptation leans into the class politics Lawrence actually cared about more than the sex.
Joely Richardson, who plays Mrs. Bolton, portrayed Lady Chatterley herself in the 1993 BBC version—full circle moment that the film never acknowledges but absolutely knows.

I’m intrigued so far. I’m somehow glad that we’re not just getting Jane Austen adaptations on Netflix. Emma Corrin and Jack O’Donnell’s chemistry is off the charts. No matter how controversial this is, it’s still a memorable classic.

Gotta love all the people describing this story as cheating when Connie taking a lover is Clifford's idea. He can't father children because of his injuries and urges her to have a sexual relationship so she can get pregnant and they can raise the child as an heir. Also, if you are unaware of the number of people historically in arranged marriages who had relationships on the side, you're in for a surprise. Cheating is not the same as an open marriage.
