Overview

DramaThrillerCrime

Zeinal is a lonely, melancholy young man who stutters a lot and takes pictures for newspapers and writes stories for magazines. Zeinal is thinking about Minoo, the company secretary, whose workplace is near her apartment. He kidnaps Minoo and imprisons her in his uncle Amjad's summer house outside the city. Minoo's attempts to escape are unsuccessful, until a wounded gunman stops in front of Zeinal's car and threatens to ask her to put him in his villa. The man loses consciousness and Zeinal takes him to the hospital and escapes. Minoo pretends to be interested in getting rid of Zeinal; But in a situation where several villagers and gendarmes have tried to free him, he gets into a fight with Zeinal and escapes. Zeinal is shot in the leg by a gendarme while chasing Minoo.

Standout Aspects

Acting

Saeed Rad's stuttering physicality—every silence screams.

Direction

Saffar's cramped framing turns the villa into psychological prison.

Best for:Solo: Late night when you want to feel unsettled and seen.·Rewatch: Second viewing catches Zeinal's stutter as emotional architecture.
Heads up:Disturbing: Kidnapping premise with uncomfortable intimacy; never exploitation, always unease.

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes

Cultural

Part of Iran's pre-revolutionary New Wave, banned after 1979; surviving prints are rare, making every screening archaeological.

Insight

Zeinal's stutter wasn't scripted—Rad developed it as character foundation, then couldn't shake it for months after wrap.
