Unknown to Kenny, Downey, the head of a gambling syndicate, has placed a $100,000 bet against the Gilmore team.

Kenny Washington integrated the NFL in 1946; this was his only film role. The Rams signed him months after production wrapped, making this a time-capsule of pre-integration Black athletic celebrity.
Million Dollar Productions deliberately cast Black actors in non-stereotypical leads — a direct challenge to Hollywood's 'race films' ghetto. This barely survived because most prints were destroyed or ignored.
