Pink films (pinku eiga) were Japan's answer to exploitation—low-budget, sex-heavy, often surprisingly experimental. Kataoka brought that sensibility to horror.
Hiromi Saotome reportedly took the dual role because no other actress wanted the physical demands of the wolf sequences. The 55-minute runtime was standard for pink film theatrical releases.
