Trivia, insights & behind the scenes

Trivia

Pierre Barouh was so smitten with Brazilian music that he learned Portuguese phonetically to sing 'Samba Saravah' in The Thomas Crown Affair.

Cultural

João da Baiana, filmed here, was literally born in the 19th century—this doc bridges slavery-era oral tradition to MPB's golden age.
