Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
This 1992 Taiwanese series exemplifies the 'qiong yao' melodrama style—named after romance novelist Chiung Yao—where coincidences pile impossibly high yet somehow feel emotionally earned through sheer commitment.
Ma Jingtao's He Shiwei launched him to regional superstardom; he reportedly cried so hard during the matriarch recognition scene that the director kept the unscripted extended take.
