LatestFrank goes undercover at a hotel when the owner is convinced that her son's new wife is a gold digger. This is the very final episode of the series. At the time Alfred Burke told the TV Times that that was it but also said that was the case every season.

Alfred Burke hated the early series' jazzy title sequence, feeling it misrepresented the show's tone. The later, starker opening proved him right.
Public Eye pioneered the 'kitchen sink' detective genre, rejecting Bond-era glamour for the mundane tragedies of postwar Britain. It made space for every broken marriage drama that followed.
