Medieval Tinder before Tinder existed—Boccaccio's horny, hilarious masterpiece finally restored.
Season 1 • Episode 14
LatestDepicts many funny and satirical tales from Giovanni Boccaccio. Around 200 actors, among them almost all the greatest of the time, with Stane Sever at the helm. He played a mischievous writer who, in each episode, leads viewers into new intriguing stories of the human spirit. After the eighth part, he was replaced by Stevo Žigon due to his death. In 2013, the series was digitized and restored. After many years, it was then broadcast again, but not in the original order.
Production
200+ actors, basically all of Yugoslav cinema showing up.
Acting
Stane Sever's mischievous narrator until his actual onscreen death.
Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Stane Sever died after episode 8; the production continued with Stevo Žigon as replacement host, making this possibly the only series where the narrator's real death becomes part of the text.
The 2013 restoration scrambled the original broadcast order, accidentally creating a new structural experiment that Boccaccio—who loved narrative chaos—might have appreciated.
