Overview

Drama

A psychologist tracked down runaways in what began as a short-run series called `Operation: Runaway,' which aired in the spring of 1978. It was slated for a fall pickup, but was shelved until the following spring, when it had a new title and some new cast members, including Alan Feinstein, who replaced Robert Reed (four years removed from `The Brady Bunch').

Michael Biehn's early TV work before Terminator fame.

Production

Rare surviving example of ABC's troubled '78-'79 season.

Best for:Solo: When you want to feel like a TV historian uncovering lost artifacts.·Binge: Seventeen episodes—perfect weekend rabbit hole of '70s network experimentation.
Heads up:Emotional: Runaway teens in vulnerable situations; dated but genuine emotional weight.

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes

Trivia

Robert Reed was fired after the pilot for being difficult—the same behavior that nearly got him axed from The Brady Bunch multiple times.

Cultural

This aired during ABC's infamous 1978-79 season when nearly every new show failed; it outlasted most by sheer stubbornness.
