Standout Aspects

Acting

Romi Park's smoky vocals define punk queen Nana Osaki.

Score

Anna Tsuchiya's live performances — actual rock, not anime bait.

Writing

Ai Yazawa's painfully real dialogue about women choosing themselves.

Best for:Solo: Late-night emotional spiral with tissues at 2am.·Friends: Bond with your ride-or-die over which Nana you are.·Binge: Commit to 47 episodes of beautiful suffering.
Heads up:Emotional: Unfinished ending due to author's illness — abrupt emotional cliff.·Sexual Content: Mature relationships with complicated power dynamics.

Deep Dive

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes

Trivia

The manga remains unfinished since 2009 due to Ai Yazawa's health; the anime invented its own abrupt ending.

Cultural

NANA revolutionized josei manga by treating female friendship as the central romance rather than a side plot.
