Season 9 • Episode 8
Latest"Il testimone" (i.e. The witness) is a tv show created, made and presented by Pif. Every episode consists of a "mini-reportage", filmed through a little camera that Pif brings himself. This makes the spectator feel as if most of the tv filtres are removed and thus they can almost witness the events with their own eyes and feel directly involved in the social messages brought on by the show. Themes vary: they go from interviews to famous individuals, to trips, to the work of associations or even small everyday realities.
Direction
Pif's handheld chaos somehow feels more honest than any polished doc.
Writing
Questions so disarmingly simple they crack open entire lives.
Production
DIY aesthetic that accidentally revolutionized Italian television.
Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Pif pioneered 'partecipazione' journalism in Italy, influencing later hits like 'Gomorrah' the series. The tiny camera became his trademark rejection of RAI's polished distance.
The episode featuring Roberto Saviano—before 'Gomorrah' made him famous—was filmed under such secrecy that Pif didn't know Saviano's real name until broadcast.
