Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Branagh bought the rights himself after reading the books on holiday — no studio wanted this much sadness.
Mankell created Wallander partly to examine how Sweden's welfare state mythology crumbled in the 1990s — the crimes are symptoms, not the disease.

Reactions from the web
I love how there are even more comments about the fact that it's Kina Grannis' cover of Sound of Silence here, rather than about the actual programme xD She's so awesome though, so it's understandable :')

Detective Kirt Wallander is such a different type of detective it makes this worth seeing. I little quirky and certainly not your typical strong police detective (which makes him seem real) but still you like him and the story draws you in. Filmed in Sweden the cinematography is beautiful. If you like slow detailed murder mysteries you will like this.
