The 'Afghantsy' — Soviet veterans returned to a society that pretended the war didn't exist. This was one of few documents acknowledging them.
Chubakova filmed Ruslan's actual daily routine; the drugs aren't performed. The USSR dissolved three years later — many Afghantsy became homeless casualties of another collapse.
