Overview

DramaTV Movie

Anne mourned the loss of her son Lukas, who was born with a genetic disease and died six years ago. With the encouragement and support of her boyfriend Daniel, she decided to sell her house and emigrate to La Palma. But it is not only the dissolution of the former family center that brings back many memories - her grown-up daughter Helen has also returned to Germany from the USA.

Standout Aspects

Acting

Böhm's restrained grief hits harder than any breakdown.

Direction

Rössel lets silences do the screaming.

Best for:Solo: When you need to ugly-cry without witnesses.·Streaming: Small screen intimacy suits this quiet devastation.
Heads up:Emotional: Child death grief is the entire foundation, not a subplot.

Deep Dive

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes

Cultural

La Palma as 'the happy island' in German imagination mirrors Madeira's historical role—a sun-drenched promised land for burned-out mainlanders.

Insight

The title's 'glass child' refers to siblings of disabled children who become invisible; Helen's return suggests she's finally demanding to be seen.
