Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Tsutsui's original 1970s novels were dark social satire; the stage leans into the anime's 2020 reboot's unhinged optimism. The live cast reportedly trained with actual butlers for the servant choreography.
The 'Balance: Unlimited' subtitle refers to Daisuke's literal unlimited bank account, but stage director Nishida added a second meaning: the emotional balance Haru forces him to learn. The final scene's physical bank balance prop weighed 47 kilograms and malfunctioned in three performances.
