This short experimental film pulls from Michel Foucault’s Discipline and Punish: The Birth of the Prison (1975). Drawing on his analysis of the Panopticon, this film explores the hyperawareness and self-regulation of the body produced by a continuous state of surveillance. This film seeks to deepen the effect of the disciplinary gaze by adding audio recordings from MRI machines, heart monitors, and other technological devices to create an internalized, medicalized awareness of the body.
