Overview

HorrorThrillerMystery

In an attempt to pull her family together, Adèlle travels with her young daughter Sarah to Wales to visit her father. The morning after they arrive, Sarah mysteriously vanishes in the ocean. Standout Aspects

Cinematography

Wales looks gorgeous and deeply cursed. Every cliff wants to eat you.

Acting

Maria Bello crumbles beautifully. Sean Bean does stoic dad trauma.

Best for:Solo: Late night, lights off, maybe a blanket fort.·Streaming: Perfect for grim discovery on a rainy Sunday.
Heads up:Emotional: Child death and parental grief throughout. Not subtle about it.·Disturbing: Cult practices involving children, implied abuse history.

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes

Trivia

Based on Simon Maginn's novel 'Sheep'—the original title that distributors wisely killed.

Cultural

The Annwn underworld comes straight from Welsh mythology, not Hollywood invention. Director John Fawcett researched actual Mabinogion texts.
