This was the ninth and final Jesse Stone film; Selleck had been trying to make a tenth before his death. The series began in 2005.
The franchise adapted Robert B. Parker's novels but increasingly diverged, with Selleck co-writing later entries to explore aging masculinity in ways the books never did.
