Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Shot in just 18 days on a $3.5 million budget, this became No Limit Films' highest-grossing release and proved Master P's business model—cheap, fast, profitable—could work in cinema.
The 'faulty phones' plot was inspired by real counterfeit electronics flooding urban markets in the late '90s; the FBI storyline mirrored actual investigations into phone cloning fraud.
