Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Rachel Zegler recorded her entire performance before West Side Story even premiered—this was her first animated lead locked in the vault for years.
The monster designs pull from Latin American folklore, a deliberate choice after the original fairy-tale concept felt too European-generic.

A valuable lesson I heard once that should be learned is that it’s not what it’s about, but how it’s about. It doesn’t always matter what story is told, what matters is if it’s told differently. One example is Wreck-It Ralph. The idea of a villain that wishes to switch to a hero wasn’t new but it was told in a way that’s made it into a recent iconic movie
