Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Chester Morris played Boston Blackie in 14 films between 1941-1949, basically inventing the charming-criminal archetype that Columbo would later interrogate.
The 'dumb cop' duo of Farraday and Matthews became a reliable comedy engine, predating the incompetent police trope that would dominate sitcoms decades later.
