Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Lifetime's first original drama series; Annie Potts joined after Designing Women ended and fought for the show's 4-season run when it faced cancellation.
The show premiered months before The Green Mile and Beloved, part of a late-'90s wave of mainstream Civil Rights narratives — but uniquely centered Black-white female friendship rather than white saviorism.
