Joseph Gilgun co-created the series and based Vinnie on his own experiences with bipolar disorder and ADHD, filming during manic episodes.
The Hawley estate is a real Lancashire location that became so associated with the show locals started Brassic tours, despite it depicting their town as a criminal cesspool.
